The Story
Radiant made it easy to break every scared introverted instinct and spark up with a conversation with a stranger who became one of my earliest and enduring friends when I was new to the city. Seeing the myriad forms of connection around the room when I walked in (a couple seated at the window engaged in deep conversation, a man reading an actual newspaper engaging with the stories of the outside world, another sipping cappuccino while journaling to connect with himself) reminded me to let my barriers down. I’ll also never forget Radiant for being seemingly the only coffee shop in the WV open during the 2026 blizzard.
